Parga is a picturesque town in the province of Epirus. It is nested between lush green hills and the clear waters of the Ionian Sea. My family and I have visited Parga numerous times in order to swim in one of the nearby beaches. Most of our visits there have been daily trips for swimming, dining, shopping, and even water-sliding. A 36 year-old Greg Parmley is attempting to set a new world record by visiting 26 European music festivals in one month.
This musical journalist from London want’s to travel through 13 countries on his motorcycle, attending festivals as diverse as Metalcamp – a Slovenian event featuring bands such as Death Angel and Trollfest – and the Montreux Jazz Festival, starring the likes of Sting and Carlos Santana.
Parmley’s journey began yestarday at Glastonbury, and after that he will head to the Graspop Metal Meeting in the Belgian town of Dessel. He will be reporting twice a week for Telegraph Travel for the duration of his trip, describing the festivals he attends.
During his adventure he will visit some of the best festivals in Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
His journey will end at the High Voltage Festival in London.

The ruins of Machu Picchu, rediscovered in 1911 by Yale archaeologist Hiram Bingham, are one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. While the Inca people certainly used the Andean mountain top (9060 feet elevation), erecting many hundreds of stone structures from the early 1400′s, legends and myths indicate that Machu Picchu (meaning ‘Old Peak’ in the Quechua language) was revered as a sacred place from a far earlier time.
